Reviewing Exceptions

Once tests are processed you may see exceptions on them, such as blank and multiple responses. Remark Test Grading Cloud Edition allows you to review and clean the exceptions. When you are looking at the list of tests, any tests with exceptions have a red badge with a number in it. Similarly, when you are looking at the students who took the test, and tests with exceptions also have the red badge. You can click the red badge to review the exceptions.

When you are in the Review Exceptions screen, you see a representation of the form on the left and the student's test image on the right (if one was scanned). You can use the image to help guide you through the exceptions. You can also use this window to hand enter a student's test data if needed (e.g., if the student's form was damaged and is no longer scannable).

To review exceptions

  1. From the My Classes screen click the desired class.
  2. From the test list, if the test has exceptions, click the red badge next to the test (if you do not see a red badge, there are no exceptions). Alternatively, click the test name. Then click the red badge next to the first student with a red badge or Review Data from the left Menu.

  3. If you clicked the Review Data link you are on the answer key. Click the Next arrow (next to Exceptions) at the top of the window to go to the first exception. If you clicked a red badge next to a student, you are on that student's first exception.

  4. Use the image on the right to make a determination as to whether you need to adjust the data. For example, if two answers are marked but one is crossed out, remove the crossed out item on the left test answer sheet representation. Or if a bubble was marked but it was too light for Remark to pick it up, choose that answer bubble. If a response is truly blank or multiple marks are chosen when not allowed, the exception is legitimate and the student gets the question wrong. If you want to clear the exception so that you do not review it again, click the red exclamation point to the right of the question. When entering responses, you can click them on the test representation or press the corresponding values on your keyboard.

  5. Navigate through the exceptions by clicking the next blue arrow or pressing Enter.

  6. Continue making corrections as needed. Once you have finished reviewing, click Save in the left Menu.

You may now run reports or export your data/grades.
