The administrator can determine the security groups to use and who is in each security group. Permissions specify the level of authorization needed to perform actions on each resource in the system. Each individual permission is composed of an action, a resource type and a level. These properties are defined as follows:
· Action: The name of the operation to be performed on the target resource. Actions may include:
o LIST: Retrieve information about one resource or a group of similar resources
o ADD: Create a new resource
o UPDATE: Update information about an existing resource
o DELETE: Delete an existing resource
o EXECUTE: Cause an operation to be executed on a resource (e.g., processing for Tests or creating for Reports)
· Resource Type: The type of resource on which the operation is to be performed (e.g., GROUP, USER, CLASS, TEST, STUDENT).
· Level: Specifies the relationship between the user with the permission and the owner of the resource upon which an action is to be performed. The following are the available levels:
o USER: the action can be performed on resources belonging to the current user.
o ACCOUNT: the action can be performed on resources associated with the user’s account or any user associated with the same account.
o CLIENT: the action can be performed on resources associated with the user’s client or any user or account associated with the same client.
Users acquire permissions through their membership in one or more groups, with each group having a set of permissions assigned to it. he user’s overall permission set consists of the total permissions available through all groups to which he or she belongs.
The following sections provide a brief description of each of the permissions that are defined in Remark Test Grading Web Edition. The permissions are split into categories based on the type of resource to which the permission applies.
