Advanced Tests - Math Questions

Math questions can be added in sections. Sections allow you to group similar questions if desired. A math section contains one or more math grids where students bubble in a numeric response. You can include decimal points, negative number signs and slashes (for fractions).

To add math sections

  1. Click New under Math Sections. If you have previously created math questions, you can reuse the properties you set before by choosing from the Recent list. Math sections allow students to input answers to math questions (numbers, decimals, fractions, etc.).
  2. Enter a Title for the section (optional).
  3. Enter the number of Questions, up to 50.
  4. Enter the Answer Length, which determines the number of bubbles to place on the form. For example, if you select 5, 5 bubbles are placed on the form. Do not forget to include bubbles for any extra characters, such as decimal points, negative signs or fraction slashes.
  5. In the Orientation box choose whether the math grid should be oriented horizontally or vertically on the form.
  6. Choose the desired formatting options:
    1. Include negative sign bubble: Includes the ability to select the negative sign (-) as a valid answer choice (e.g., -40 is the correct answer).
    2. Include fraction slash bubble: Includes the ability to select the slash (/) as a valid answer choice (e.g., 4/5 is the correct answer).
    3. Include decimal point bubble: Includes the ability to select the decimal point (.) as a valid answer choice (e.g., 4.25 is the correct answer).
    4. Show write-in underscores beside bubbles: Provides an area for students to also write their answers, in addition to bubbling in the answers.
    5. Show question numbers: Displays the question number next to the bubble grid.
    6. Restart question numbering: Starts the section over at 1.
    7. Insert line break before section: Places a horizontal line before the section of questions.
    8. Insert page break before section: Places the section of questions on the next page.
  7. Click the Add button to add the section.
  8. Continue adding math sections of questions as needed.
